The selective disregard for international law by the United States in the context of the 'war on terror' has enormous influence over the rest of the world. When the US commits serious human rights violations it sends a signal to abusive governments that these practices are permissible. This is why Guantanamo Bay is so important: it tells other governments that they can commit human rights violations in the name of counter-terrorism too.

The Alabama Freeze Out III
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 01 March 2008

The third annual Freeze out was wonderful!!!!

It was time to freeze your Bus off again!!! Last year was awesome and this year was great as well. Feb 1st to the 3rd was the date for this year. Same place as last year, at Payne Lake. The Payne Lake Recreation Area is located about 20 miles west of Centreville on State Highway 25. The area includes a campground, a 110-acre lake for fishing and swimming, but I would not suggest swimming this time of year. Burritos on Saturday AM and stew for supper at night. This was "The Mississippi Queen's" Maiden voyage and she ran like a dream. Here she is below....

If ya wern't there, ya missed out, but don't fret, more campouts are just around the corner Laughing The next one is the Mystery Bus Festival in Equality, Alabama. Check out the forums for details.

The Alabama Fall Ball Campout
Written by The Bus Brigade
Thursday, 28 December 2006

The Alabama Fall Ball Campout took place on the first weekend of November at a primative camp in Talladega National Forest. Everybody had a blast, but instead of rambling on about it myself, I'm gonna share a few quotes out of the forums. Here we go...

Chad wrote, "Man I had a freaking blast. Got things together and packed up and ready to go Friday. Lee and Heather came over and we headed out. Got up there fine no problems. Todd was already there and we all set up camp and got ready for the weekend. Had few Brats for dinner and Darrel and Daniel showed up right before dark. It was great to see Dric show up. I think he won the long distance award for sure. Had a nice fire going and we all just chilled out by the fire. Saturday Todd Dric darrel and I rode up to the state park and hiked out to the highest point in AL. What a great view and the leaves were awesome! Went back to camp and Greg Chris and Chris and Family all Showed up in time for lunch. It was great to see Chris and his two kids show up for a campout with the brigade. The rest of the day we hung out played Bocce', I think Greg and Chris probably tied for the over all title this weekend. We had a great big dinner Thanks go to Greg for the cooking skills... Porkchops, Steaks and bubba burgers for all. I dont think anyine went hungry. Sunday we got packed played some more Bocce' and rode home. It was a great weekend and I want to thank everyone that came out and enjoyed the weekend with me!"
DRick wrote, "I had a blast and couldn't of asked for a better quick trip[ home for a little family time."
Chris wrote, "THAT was great campout! The Mt. Cheaha area is awesome in the fall. It was great to catch up with everybody and see a few faces I haven't seen in some years. We had a great time and will return! Next time I plan on exploring some of the local trails on foot/bike."
Greg wrote, "Man! Maggee and I had the best time with all of ya'll!!!"
Todd wrote, "Man What a weekend! I left the house about 10 am friday morning and headed east! After a fuel stop and some grocery shopping in Talledega I headed to the mountain! I took a scenic route that ended up much shorter and quicker than I expected so I ended up at the camp about noon. After warming some lunch I decided to take a nap! Wow what an experience to be in the beautiful forrest all alone with the cool breeze and fresh air and all the color! I was, however, glad to see Chad, Lee and Heather arrive! Friday night around the camp fire was great! And Saturday seeing Greg was great! I was really glad to finally meet Chris, and his kids,! What beautiful kids! And glad to finally meet D-ric! And I was glad to meet Brandon! I love Bertha and RV by the way!"
This was just a few of the many memories and stories that were made during this campout. We hope to see you at one of the next campouts.
